Pokemon GO is Partnering with the Knight Foundation to Run Community Events

Pokemon GO developer Niantic has announced to partner with the Knight Foundation that is a foundation invests local journalism and local arts to help to engage with local communities in the US.



As everyone knows that Pokemon GO aims to take the people outdoors; the purpose of this partnership is to enhance civic engagement through the use of Augmented Reality and to explore how technology can drive civic engagement.

Community events will take place in cities and first in Charlotte on May 7 as part of Open Streets 704 with over 2.5 mile area and 16 PokeStops plus 2 Gyms at different sites. The developer hopes players can involve into the local communities and interact with each other. As the first place to start with community events, hopefully it is a good start and soon will come to many other places near to you. The event will runs from 1PM to 5PM Eastern Time, get ready and have fun on game.
